Jenny + Yuri

Chez Papa.  Chez Maman.  Oooh Lala.  Lots of French goodness around these parts, and when I say goodness, I mean food.  Jenny and Yuri met me at their favorite snack spot.  It reminded me of the little hole in the wall bars that litter the backstreets of Tokyo.  Just enough room for 10 people, and always jamming.  Although it wasn’t nomi-hodai (all you can drink), these two lovebirds grabbed a meal and a glass of wine to calm themselves down.  For some reason they were feeling all nervous and scared that the photos weren’t going to come out good, because like so many before them, they said, “I don’t photograph well.”  I say ballyhoo to that!  These photos rock!

Yuri and Jenny. I am sure Yuri said something totally appropriate to make Jenny laugh.

Enjoy.

Megan + Casey

I felt really bad for suggesting that we meet in the evening at Land’s End and China Beach for our engagement session, because the fog was thick and the wind was pretty steady.  But, since we were both there, and Megan and Casey were looking pretty snazzy, we decided to go for it.  And when you go for it, sometimes Mother Nature gives you a reward for having some nuts guts.  In fact, I have to say that every client that has “gone for it” has been rewarded with nothing but stellar images – whether it’s been in the rain or pea soup fog – we’ve come away with great stuff.

Moving on with today’s blog, I have to disclose to everyone that Megan and Casey are two goofballs.  They really love life to the fullest, and are always laughing and goofing around.  If I could interview my clients, this would be the criteria I would deem necessary for us to work together!  So everyone, look through the pics and follow a pair of people who have it down.  Enjoy!… Megan and Casey wouldn’t have it any other way.

Sometimes the light just gives you a good photo.

Rosa + Shenay

Another deal, another day.  The Groupon deal is still kicking, although it’s in its last stages of life.  I met Rosa and Shenay at the Japanese Tea Garden in SF.  We got there early to avoid the crowds, and got away with it too, as the tourist were light in the morning.  Thus, we had our choice of some nice angles with the bridge, trees, and all the other good things that come with a Japanese garden.

Shenay, whose name is Turkish, spent 2 years in Japan as a child, thus the fascination with all things Japanese.  As I spent 2 years of my life (although I was an adult) I am still fascinated with all things Japanese.  Whether it’s a bar that serves mayonnaise milk shakes (for real), real karaoke, or the indefinite response you’ll get to important life decisions, I will always heart Japan.
Here are a few from the day…

Through the maple, Shenay and Rosa.

Rachelle + John

Finally.  Finally, a gorgeous Friday afternoon.  Finally, a somewhat hot and sunny day.  Finally, Rachelle and John get to see there pictures.  We had a great time cruising the streets of San Francisco; from grabbing a cup of joe at their local spot to heading off to more industrialized locales, it was a good day to photograph.  It’s all a box of chocolates I tell you.

(You know it’s Friday with a lame intro like this…)

The photos are much better I tell you!

Taking their dog, Cloud, for a walk.

Angela + Zheng

It’s only fitting that a good looking and fun couple follow up Yukon’s post.  I mean, it’s hard to compete with puppies, ya know…?  Haha.  We first met when I did a bridal show at the Ritz Carlton last January.  Turns out they are getting married in Atlanta, but that’s still no reason not to get some great images.  We had hopes of breaking into City Hall, but alas, there was a private event 😦

No matter, as we were perfectly happy to photograph on the outside as well.

On the steps of City Hall.

Bill + Heidi

Bill and Heidi tied the knot at a place that speaks to them and for them, as they are creatures of the outdoors to say the least.  Evergreen Lodge lies a few miles away from the entrance of Hetch Hetchy and the West Entrance of Yosemite National Park. With its cute little cabins, rustic setting, and lack of cell service, it makes a pretty good retreat sans distractions.

If you caught the blog a few months ago you’ll remember Bill, Heidi, and I traipsed around Pt Reyes National Seashore (in the rain, uphill, both ways) for some great shots. Heidi enticed me on a walk that was “…only a mile or so.” About 5 miles later, back at the car wet and exhausted, I could only smile and shake with happiness and hunger pangs; the journey was worth it, for we got some great shots.  Well, we went a little further this time, but I reckon the shots came out even better. There are a few more than normal, but that’s just because there are so many epic shots, I just had to include them all.

Here’s proof!

Bill and Heidi, exchanging breath in the Maori tradition called Hongi.

Told you…  Enjoy the photos!

Jasmine + Jacob

Coming to the end of the line with my engagement sessions that were won via Groupon style bidding offered by The Wedding Channel.  Yep, it was a crazy good deal, but as I said this would be a year of ‘yes’, I wanted to offer something amazing to everyone out there.  Well, it worked, and I sold out my allotted amount of E-Sessions in a few hours.  Pretty sweet.  I also have to credit all the new clients; they have been nothing but understanding, willing, and gracious subjects. Maybe cause I’m so easy to work with 🙂  Haha!  Just had to throw it out there.  It’s guaranteed that I will make you laugh and look good at the same time.

It wasn’t such a tall order with Jasmine and Jacob.  We met at Baker Beach in SF as the light was fading and managed to grab some amazing shots.  The proof is in the pudding, so read on.  Hope you enjoy!

Jessi + Rich

Things are a bit slower around here, and I finally have some breathing room to get to a blog.  I posted 2 photos from Jessi and Rich’s wedding 3 weeks ago, and now I am finally ready to post a few more. I will keep the rambling to a minimum. Enjoy the photos!

Funny that I used this lighthouse to help guide me down the Pacific coast when I sailed to Mexico. Here's hoping it will help guide Jessi and Rich to new horizons as well.

Jessi + Rich – Uno y Dos

LA was fantastic, because that’s where Jessi and Rich got married.  I mean, besides traffic for no good reason and Google maps screwing me with driving directions (got to see the hood in San Pedro…marvelous by the way…), I had a grand old time.  Couldn’t have asked for better weather, the people were fantastic, and everything went off without a hitch.  Jessi is short for Jessilea, but she’s not short on patience or the ability to chillax.  In fact, she should be the poster child for a bride to be: Easy-going, enjoying the moment, and always smiling.

She’s honeymoonin’, but I thought I would throw up a few photos before I head off to the Evergreen Lodge at the west gate of Yosemite for another wedding this weekend.  Here are 2, and there are so many more to come.  Can’t wait to get to it next week.

Enjoy!

Jessi with her grandmother's vintage gown. She wore it at her wedding. This thing was freakin' amazing, and in perfect condition!

Rich, rocking a suit from CK. It was worth it man. You looked good.

More on the way.

See you down the road.

Megan + Jeff

Sausalito.  Since I lived in Japan and I love ‘Lost In Translation’ I always think of that cheesy hotel band when I say it. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, rent the movie.  Bill Murray should have been awarded an Oscar, but the Academy is lame, so he didn’t.

Besides imprinting a strong cinematic connection, it also conjures up images of boat houses, float planes, a cute downtown, good art, and mellow people walking the streets.  So when Megan and Jeff suggested hitting Sausalito up, there wasn’t any reason to say no.  The weather was great, but the parking was lousy.  All in all, we had a great session.

Having a few laughs in the Nasturtium.
