Nicki + Simon – Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph in San Jose – The Ranch Reception

Nicki and Simon were married on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon in San Jose at the Cathedral Basilica of St Joseph. It’s a stunningly beautiful church with lots of natural light and amazing architecture.  Plus, it had a balcony! I love it when churches have balconies, because it gives us photographers another amazing angle to tell the story from.  And although there’s just a few images from above, it helps fill in the story leaps and bounds.  But I digress…!

The morning started off right with champagne for the ladies and Don Julio shots for the boys.  Anything to relieve the nerves.  No matter how many times I see it, the moment never gets old.  Even the most stalwart of brides and grooms eventually have “that” moment when you can tell the emotions and the reality are settling in.  That’s where booze comes in handy! I’ve been known to take a nip myself sometimes 😉 Artistic freedom is my excuse!

I didn’t have anything this fine day, because all the pieces were in place, and Nicki and Simon’s wedding was gorgeous.  Come take a look and see for yourself.

Nancy + Brady

I watched the weather with hesitation.  All week the rain forecast kept eeking towards Saturday, and sure enough, I woke up to gray skies.  As I arrived at the Saint Claire Hotel in San Jose, the skies opened up.  But it was all good, because Nancy and Brady were having an indoor wedding.  The only bummer was we wanted to take some photos outside after the ceremony.  Well, wedding luck struck again.  The streets dried out, the sky was a marvelous blue with puffy clouds, and we got some great shots.  See for yourself!

Helen + Dave

All the way from Ohio, Helen and Dave flew out to have their wedding in front of family and friends at the Valencia Hotel in San Jose.  From many an email and phone call, our conversations always were great – but to finally meet this duo – was the icing on the cake.

I’ve been real busy of late, and I wanted Helen to know I was working as fast as I could to get some of her photos up. She replied that it had been 9 years of courtship for her and Dave, what was another few days?

Cortney + Mike

I gotta be up front – I have attended a few country weddings – but this one takes the cake.  From big belt buckles to boots, Wranglers to Coors Light, and some good old line dancing mixed in, this puppy had it all.  And you know what? It was a damn good time!
