Michelle + Rendell

I love to travel – I’m not gonna lie.  And when Michelle and Rendell, who are having their wedding up here in the Bay Area, asked me if I would come on down to San Diego for an engagement session, I basically said, “Why the hell not?”  With San Clemente so close, good friends to see, and a few waves to surf, it was an easy choice.

Once again, southern California pulled through with great weather, great waves, and some fantastic photos.  Here are a few from the day.

Enjoy!

Starting out in Balboa Park, we cruised around to see what we could find. It was my first time here. If you have the chance, definitely hit this place up.

Thanks to everyone who has entrusted me to photograph the biggest day of their lives.  I take it seriously, and I love what I do.  Looking forward to many more years!

See you down the road.

Phew, I am glad to be back home after a busy week of traveling, photographing, and oh yeah, surfing.  It’s been far too long since I have been in the water, but I got a few gems to last me quite a while.  I can thank Churches for that! Anyway, I am into the studio for an exciting Friday night – to frame up some work for a gallery show at Cafe Royale. Show’s opening party happens February 3rd and can be found here at 8PM.  If you are in the neighborhood, stop by and say hello, grab a drink, and enjoy.

Here’s a picture that sums up my week.

See you down the road.

1, 2, 3… & Out The Door

Here’s a few photos from yesterday’s engagement session with Catherine and Jeremy.  They are my first of 15 engagement sessions from my crazy amazing Groupon style deal via The Wedding Channel. It was a damn fine day, and a damn good time.  Jeremy – sorry you had to miss the games – but you are clear for the Superbowl, so no worries.

OK, I am out the door and on a plane to San Diego for another engagement session, and then on to shoot some personal work.  I am testing a water housing and my fitness, as I will be swimming around with an amazing surfer who has agreed to try and get some shots.

1, 2, & 3…  Enjoy!

It's hard to beat the Golden Gate.

The end to a great day. Thanks you two!

More to come.

See you down the road.

Lisa + David

You want great photographs?  Go to great places, and bring your imagination. A fairly great place would happen to be our backyard: San Francisco.  So when Lisa and David contacted me to photograph their very impromptu ceremony at SF’s City Hall, I happily obliged.  Ahhhh, the possibilities… There are so many possibilities, and then on top of that, more possibilities.  From the architecture, light, and people, one can get fairly overwhelmed when trying to narrow down the options.  When in doubt, I try to take my own advice – go with the moment, listen to your gut, and rock it!

Hope you enjoy!

A Good Time In The Woods

Being part of a community isn’t just existing in a place.  It also means being active within that community, getting to know people, cultivating relationships, and giving back.  Auctioning my services to help raise funds for local schools is a great way for me to do just exactly that.  It helps with education, an area in which California could use a little help, and puts me in contact with new clients – a great thing – especially in this economy.

When Charline scheduled the dates, and described her family, I was excited from the get go.  Their family is absolutely beautiful, full of “energy”, wise cracks, and grace as well.  Here are a few from that day.

South of the Border – Not the one in South Carolina

Recently ventured down south of Cancun to visit with family at a little place where my parents could spend the rest of the years.  It was a nice break from the rain and gray of SF, and of course it was great to see everyone, including my little nephew Easton.  What else was great?  It’s great to know that some things don’t change.  There’s a venerable list of things to do, see, hear, and eat in Mexico.  Here are a few in no particular order:  Tacos, little old ladies, power lines sticking out of the ground, peddlers hawking everything from jaguar noise-making thingys to nose candy, a latin wedding, siestas, needless construction, construction workers wearing jellies, man powered stop lights, and the always audible accordion – somewhere in the background.

Dharma at Mathra

I met Pureshka at the Claremont hotel via a Bridal Show.  I had looked forward to working with her for a long time, and we planned for some photos at a celebration dinner in downtown Palo Alto at an Indian Restaurant called Mantra.

What can I say?  The people were friendly, the food was great, and the colors were popping.  Now if I can just get her to fly me to India for their crazy 3 day wedding extravaganza!  Those would be some amazing photos…

Enjoy!
